An Unspecified Configuration Error Has Occurred
When trying to load a save file, an Unspecified Configuration error appears. This is mainly caused by two things:
- Loading a save file from a newer game version. An example of this would be trying to load a save file from the latest Steam version after swapping to the Cross-Play branch.
- The game files are being blocked by a Firewall.
Workaround:
- Only load save files that were created on the same version of the game or older.
- Adjust your firewall settings to allow Civilization VII game files.
- Check your Steam Beta branch to make sure you're on the latest version of the game.

Small update here! With the addition of the Cross-Play branch on Steam, it is expected that players will be unable to load save files created on a newer version of the game when on this branch.
The error will show as the Unspecified Configuration Error, though it is planned to be updated in the future to provide more information.
