Crashing on Steam/Epic After Update
After updating Civilization VII it suddenly doesn't want to launch! This may show up as a crash error report when launching the game, or the game may never load.
We have identified a possible solution for players affected by this. If this is affecting you, try deleting the LegalDocument.cache file from your computer's Local AppData folder. The steps for how to find this file are below:
Windows
- Type "%localappdata%" without the quotes into the Windows Search Bar and press Enter.
- Open the "Firaxis Games" folder then open the "Sid Meier's Civilization VII" folder.
- Delete the file LegalDocument.cache
Mac
- Open Finder.
- In the Finder menu bar (top left) click 'Go' then 'Go to Folder'.
- In the text box, type "~/Library/Application Support/ Civiliation VII/" without the quotes and press Enter.
- Locate the 'Civilization VII' folder and in that folder delete the file LegalDocument.cache
Once you've deleted the file, try re-launching the game to see if you're able to get in! It would also be a good idea to verify your game files after completing this step.
