Some console players will update Civilization VII with the latest patch, and then may not see the DLC that was already purchased. Where did they go?
Rest assured they are still there, and there's no need to send your scouts out to find them. Instead, we have a simple set of steps for each platform that should bring them right back.
First step is to Restore Licenses:
PS4
- Go to Settings > Account Management > Restore Licenses.
- Select Restore and wait for the process to complete.
- Restart Civilization VII and check if your DLC is now visible.
PS5
Go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses.
Select any licenses you want to bring back, then click Restore.
Restart Civilization VII and check if your DLC is now visible.
Note: For PS5 you can also restore a license directly from the home screen or your game library, just go to the game, press the options button, and then select Restore License from the menu.
If that doesn't work on your PlayStation, you can manually reinstall add-ons:
PS4: From the Home Screen, go to your Library > select Civilization VII > scroll to the Add-Ons section and download any missing content.
PS5: Highlight Civilization VII on the Home Screen > press Options (or select the "…" button) > choose Manage Game Content > download any missing add-ons.
Alternatively, search for the DLC by name in the PlayStation Store and install from there.
PS5 players have one final step to try:
Go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play and make sure it is enabled.
If this is disabled, DLC access may be affected for other users on the console.
For both Xbox One and Xbox X|S, start by checking Manage Game and Add-Ons:
- Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
- Go to My games & apps > See all > Games.
- Highlight Civilization VII, press the Menu button > select Manage game and add-ons.
- Look under "Ready to install" - any DLC that was unlinked after the patch should appear here. Select each item and install, or choose Install all.
Then search the Microsoft Store if the DLC doesn't appear under "Ready to install:
- Some users on Xbox have found they do not see DLC in their "Manage Game and Add-ons", but they can install the DLC by searching for it in the Xbox Store. If the DLC shows as "Owned", select Install.
Finally hard restart the console if those steps don't work:
Hold the Xbox button on the console itself for 10 seconds until it fully shuts down. Wait 30 seconds, then power back on. Relaunch Civilization VII and check for DLC.
Original Nintendo Switch:
Step 1 - Check for a software update
- From the same + menu, select Software Update > Via the Internet.
- Install any available updates, then relaunch the game.
Step 2 - Redownload from the eShop (if DLC still doesn't appear)
- Open the Nintendo eShop.
- Tap your profile icon (top-right).
- Scroll to Redownload and find your Civ VII DLC.
- Verify the correct Nintendo Account (the one that purchased the DLC) is linked under System Settings > Users > select your user > Nintendo Account.
Nintendo Switch 2:
From the HOME menu, scroll down and select Virtual game cards.
Select your user, then select Civilization VII, followed by Load on the System to restore all entitlements.
Restart Civilization VII and check if your DLC is now visible.
