In Civilization VII we hope to foster civilized conversation via Group Chats in the game. We also want to make sure everyone using Group Chats knows how to join, leave, block, and report as needed for these chats.
Joining Group Chat
To start your own Group Chat, you can follow these simple steps:
- On your screen you will see a speech bubble icon
- Click the icon to open your chat with players in your current game
- You can see the chatter's name above each line of text that person has sent
On the bottom left side of the chat window there is a globe icon and an icon of a person next to the name of the other player, clicking these will let you switch between global and Direct Messages in your chat.
Leaving Group Chat
If you no longer want to be part of a Group Chat, the steps to close or exit are:
- Click the same speech bubble icon to close the chat window
Blocking/Reporting Bad Behavior

Keep in mind that you will not be able to block someone if you are in a current game with them, but you will be able to report bad behavior in the current game.
